I have a brand on Etsy called Grace Gagnon. The website is https://gracegagnon.etsy.com. I started it a couple of years ago to make some extra money and it surprisingly turned out to be a success. At the moment I am focusing on jewelry but hope to add clothing in the near future.
In my design for Vetement de Rue, I took inspiration from Christian Dior's New Look and the exaggerated silhouette he incorporated into his designs. As for the bloom aspect of the design, I wanted to integrate it subtly, but also enough to make it noticeable. This took place in the form of the lace pants and the bodice's embroidery. I also wanted to play off of a mixture of textures, so instead of making the bodice out of cotton or similar material, I chose velvet. This makes the garment feel more luxurious and gives it some extra character.
From my perspective, I would describe my design style as classic, while incorporating new trends and ideas, but keeping a timeless feel. I draw a majority of my inspiration from Chanel and Christian Dior in the 80s and 90s. In a design I also value the functionality and structure of a garment.
