Sara Woods is majoring in Studio Art.
My model Seth is wearing a fit that I made by repurposing only found material. It includes metal and fabric scraps, as well as thrifted pieces I have upcycled. The complete disfigurement of each scrap and piece of clothing to create something new is an effort to showcase the opportunities of existing objects in all facets for art and sustainability.
My process is wholistic. I’m always viewing the full piece as a collage that changes and lives. The state of being it has reached as it is worn is a result of investigating details. These moments that I chose to seek out are in opposition to the concept of industry, and the nuances of efficiency that it corporations impose.
