This year I wanted to improve as a designer, I made all my garments from scratch. In previous years I took a few ready pieces and made them my own. This year I made everything from repurposed denim.
With the industrial theme, I thought denim and metals/metallics would go very well. Denim was the clothing for factory workers when they started, and was one of the first things I thought of when thinking of industrial.
For my design, I made a corset-like top with different pieces of denim. I covered the bust part in small gears, giving it a little of a steam punk vibe. I also made some detailing around the top with twisted metal wire.
For the skirt, I did a structured silhouette that has a rounded shape around the hips. For the hemline it is like a fairy skirt, with different pieces of denim and a little bit of leather. I also made a type of glove/sleeve with metal chains.
