My goal was to make a fit that looked nice. I already know how to paint details onto clothes, and working on this fit helped me learn how to dye fabric and sew at a novice level. Speaking of sewing, my model Celine helped me out with alot of it. I sewed drafts for the top and skirt, but she sewed the entire final fit because her sewing skills are alot better than mine. I still have alot to learn!
The fit I made is based on the pepper moth population changing color due to the Industrial Revolution. During the start of the Industrial Revolution, the moths became darker because smoke in the sky made tree bark darker. Moths becoming darker prevented them from being spotted by predators. When environmental regulations were introduced, less smoke in the sky made the bark on trees lighter. Overtime, the moths became lighter to continue blending into the tree bark.
